Why is an eye examination recommended once a year?

For the same reason we get our teeth cleaned (to prevent long-term problems), we need to ensure the health of our most precious sense. Visual clarity, health of the corneas, lenses, retina and macula are of critical importance in maintaining healthy eyes for the rest of our lives.

I have a child. When should I have his/her eyes examined?

The American Optometric Association, American Academy of Opthalmology, and the American Pediatric Association all recommend that your child have their first eye exam by the age of 3. Amblyopia, more commonly known as “lazy eye”, is a common condition in children that if not recognized by the age of 5, can cause permanent vision loss. If caught before the age of 5, in most cases it can be corrected. Poor or deteriorating vision is commonly not recognized by children. Because children only know the world through their own eyes, they do not know if something is wrong.

Can I get my contacts, glasses and sunglasses there?

What are High Definition lenses and how will they benefit me?

We now have the ability to custom design eyeglass lenses for each individual. Not only do these lenses address your acuity of vision (which line you can read on the eye chart), they also improve the sharpness, contrast and clarity that has never before been possible. Like your fingerprint, no two people are alike—not even your own two eyes are identical. Yet with conventional vision correction, thousands of people may share your same prescription. Based on measurement technology used a generation ago, it’s this “one-size-fits-all” approach that can limit you from seeing beyond the ordinary.

Now with the latest digital equipment in our office, delivering a diagnosis with data never before available is now a reality. For the first time, your prescription is a match to your unique optical requirements. Taking what is unique to your eyes and customizing your eyeglass prescription, no one in the world will have your same “eye print.”

Is there an alternative to Lasik Surgery?

The Gentle Vision Shaping System uses special overnight vision retainers to gently and gradually reshape the front surface of the eye to eliminate or reduce nearsightedness and astigmatism. The principle is similar to the use of a dental retainer used to realign crooked teeth. The vision retainers are similar in shape to contact lenses and are only worn at night while sleeping. They are then removed upon awakening to provide clear vision without the use of glasses or contact lenses! The retainers are comfortable and very easy to care for.
