One is considered a near-universal recommendation by most eye care professionals. The other is more nuanced, and whether it’s right for you depends on your symptoms and screen habits.

  • Reduced blink rate: We blink significantly less often when focused on a screen, which dries out the eye surface and causes irritation
  • Near focusing demands: Sustained close-up focus strains the ciliary muscles that control the eye’s lens
